Kopan Monastery
Kopan Monastery is located in the hills, just outside Kathmandu. Kopan is a Tibetan Buddhist Monastery with over 700 monks and nuns and is also a retreat and education centre for westerns from all over the world. Kopan Monastery was started by two Lamas, Lama Thubten Yeshe and Lama Zopa Rinpoche in the 70s and is one of over 150 centers representing the Foundation for the Preservation of the Mahayana Tradition - FPMT throughout the world.
